Comet Ison

Comet Ison

This is an image obtained today (Dec 15 2013 at 12:55 UT) centered on the area where comet ISON was supposed to be according to ephemerides computation (R.A. 16h 10m 53s, Dec +16┬░ 09′ 51”). The image, which covers an area of about 2×2 degrees, was very poor because of the low altitude over the horizon and the bright haze. Comparing the image with the Digitized Sky Survey plate of the same region it is evident that there is no visible sign of the comet’s remnants ┬áthere.
