Rosetta is a spacecraft built by ESA, the European Space Agency, and launched on Match 2 2004. Rosetta’s main objective is to study closely comet 67P, by orbiting around the comet for 17 months, and sending a robotic probe to land on its surface. The approach to the comet will start on January 2014 and complete on May the same year. The lander is expected to be deployed in November 2014.

Comet 67/P Churyumov-Gerasimenko has a period of 6.75 years and will reach its next perihelion on Aug 13 2015.
